Harrison Meets His Great Grandma Shealy

While we were in Charleston, we seized the opportunity for Harrison to meet his other great grandma. Aside from me loving to spend time with my grandma, I was dying for Harrison to meet her. We drove up to Lexington to have lunch with my grandma. It was really fun, but not enough time with my grandma. She is too funny and makes us all laugh.

Harrison Reads the Newspaper

As of recently, Harrison has started to show interest in a lot more things. He is really interested in books, newspapers, and magazines right now. I think it has a lot to do with the pages turning. Anyway, here is a picture of Harrison reading the paper with his daddy. As a side note, this picture did get me wondering if newspapers are going to be something of the past when Harrison looks back at these pictures.

Harrison LOVES his aunt Amanda

Our family had to make an impromptu visit to Charleston because Adam's grandfather passed away. Harrison got to meet a lot of the extended Brantley family that he hasn't had the chance to meet. It was a ton of fun and fellowship with the family. Here are some pictures of Harrison's 2nd trip to Charleston.

YL Family Camp at Crooked Creek

Our little family went up to Crooked Creek this weekend to have fun at family camp. It was Adam and Harrison's first Young Life camping experience. We had an absolute blast. Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend. For the record, going to camp with a 5 month old is totally different than going as a leader. We did get the hook-up with a private bedroom and bathroom. It was awesome!

Harrison has a Play Date

Yesterday, Harrison got to play with little Stella from across the street. Her mom and I were due two days apart. Harrison was a week early and Stella was a week late, so they are exactly two weeks apart. I got to watch Stella for a couple of hours yesterday while her mom took care of some things. I have been starting to think that I want to have another baby, so this would be a good test. Having two babies in the same house is totally different. I applaud all of the parents out there with twins. I don't know how you do it, but you do. In all seriousness, it wasn't bad at all. It was actually really fun. Harrison knew that something was different, but he couldn't quite figure it out. They only had about 20 minutes where they were awake at the same time, so it was cute to see them. Harrison really cracks me up in this video. Stella is talking and going to town, and Harrison glances over at her and right back to his toys without missing a beat. He is such a boy! He has already learned how to ignore girls when they are talking. This is a skill that I am sure he has acquired from his daddy (and every other male out there). Anyway, it was fun and I am sure they are going to have many more play dates in the future. I can't wait until they start to recognize each other.

5 Months Old Yesterday!

I cannot believe that Harrison is five months old. It is absolutely ridiculous that time is flying like this. He is doing a great job with his solid foods, only it appears that he has a small allergy that we are trying to identify. I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to buy a high-chair. I really don't want to do it, because everyone said that it would be really far down the road before I would have to get one. I just can't believe that I have already arrived at "really far down the road." He is outgrowing his bumbo seat, so I am going to have to break down and buy one soon. I am open to suggestions as to what I should look for in a high-chair. Here is what I have heard so far from different people: 1. make sure that it has a removable tray insert that can be put in the dishwasher (some are actually coming with two of these now). 2. make sure that the vinyl or whatever the seat is made out of can come clean with a wet cloth. So that's my current criteria. Unfortunately, no one has told me, to make sure it is cute. However, that is one of my factors in deciding. Again, I really can't believe Harrison is old enough to even sit in a high-chair. I have been told by 6 months, he can start taking juice from a cup. I don't even think that is possible at this point. Anyway, here are some pictures of him eating and playing from the other day. One of these pictures is of his modified sitting position. He can sit up unassisted now, but he has to use his hands. And in this picture, he is on the verge of falling over. It was the best I could capture.

Home with Dad

I am at the airport on my way out of town and I had to leave my two favorite boys at home while I travel for work. Adam got Harrison dressed today to go to Chick-fil-A with him. Before I left for work, this picture is what I saw of Harrison. If you can't tell what Harrison has on, he is wearing a Clemson t-shirt and camouflage shorts. Adam had to dress him like a MAN (he wanted me to make sure that I showed a picture of his shorts). I have to admit he did look cute. But there is no doubt in my mind that when Adam took him to the store, everyone knew that I was out-of-town. As an aside...the t-shirt Harrison has on is for 12-18 months! The shirt must run small, but still, he is only almost 5 months old. He is such a big boy. I just thought that was interesting. Also, for some reason, Harrison's hair looks red in these pictures. I always get a lot of questions from the blog-followers about his hair. It must be the camera and the way it takes in my kitchen/living room. His hair is dirty blonde.

Harrison Playing

I know this video is pretty dark, but I just thought it was super cute of Harrison playing with Adam. He gets really excited about certain little stuffed animals, as you can see.

Rockies Lose...What a Snooze!

Early in the game before Harrison decided to go to sleep
Asleep by the 4th inning in daddy's arms

Harrison woke up to celebrate the 7th inning stretch with Uncle Matt

P-U, Harrison knows that the Rockies stink today

...and out for the count!

Needless to say, the Rockies game was disappointing. They lost to one of the worst teams in baseball (the Nationals) twice in one day. Harrison was smart enough to use the game as a great nap session.

Harrison & Chewy

Chewy has now found a reason to love Harrison...he can pet her!

Welcome Home Dad!

We Miss Daddy

Well, it has been a little over two days since we last saw Adam, and we are starting to get a little home sick for him. I talked to Adam yesterday and he said that he went to sleep the other night missing both Harrison and me...I'm telling you, having a baby well turn men into softies. I think it is so sweet and we miss him so much. But, we have had a really good time so far. Yesterday, we went to Colorado Springs to hang out with Laura Cutter (aka Jelley). Harrison hung in pretty well during girl time. And by "hung in well," I mean, slept most of the time. Harrison hung out with Eddie (his purple elephant) and totally forgot that we were even in the room. Today, Harrison and I went on a much-needed grocery store trip, and we filled up the baby pool in the back yard and plunged into it. I really wanted to take a picture of us in it because it was hilarious. However, I decided that it wasn't the best idea to try to take a picture and hold Harrison in the water at the same time. That was a disaster waiting to happen. It was so small that while I was in it, I couldn't even stretch out my legs totally. Chewy stuck her front two paws in, so needless to say, it was crowded with the three of us in it. Afterwards, Harrison and I got in comfy clothes and snuggled on the couch for a little while. Spending time with this little boy is so magical. I love watching him change and grow. Just the other day, we were laying next to each other, face-to-face. He reached out and grabbed my nose and felt my face. It seemed like he was studying me. Either way, I thought it was so cute and it made me melt. Also, his hair is getting so much longer. It is hard to tell in the pictures, but his hair is getting pretty long and blonde on top. He is just becoming a really cute little boy. I already feel like he is growing up too fast and he is only 4 1/2 months old. Anyway, we miss you daddy...come home soon (and in one piece, please).

UNCLE MATT!

Matt came in to town yesterday and Harrison got to hang out with him for most of the day. Matt is SO good with Harrison...he is such a natural. Unfortunately, Adam and Matt left today for a trip to Western Colorado for a man trip. Maybe next year Harrison will get to go with them. For now, he has to stay home with mom.

Some Cute Pictures

Adam had a fancy Premiere Night at his store tonight, so Harrison and I got dressed up to take part in the festivities. Here are some photos that the photographer took. I think they are really cute.

Harrison and Chewy Make Good

As many of the avid "Meet Harrison Brantley" blog followers know by now, Chewy is still learning to love Harrison. Chewy accepts change, but her actions show that she is slightly oblivious to it. We all know that Chewy knows exactly what is going on, but it is like if she ignore it (Harrison), maybe it (Harrison) will go away. One thing is for sure, Harrison isn't going away. We all know that Marley loves Harrison, but Chewy's love has been questionable...until today. First, let me explain that Harrison is so intrigued by Chewy (way more than Marley). I am not sure if it is her hair or if it is because she pants so much, Harrison thinks that Chewy is always smiling at him. He is forever smiling and babbling to her. The sweet boy has no idea that Chewy just wants him to disappear. Well, here are some pictures that I snapped today of Harrison talking to Chewy, and believe it or not, Chewy was warming up to him.
